2018 年，Jon Hopkins 受邀到厄瓜多爾的亞馬遜雨林中，與幾位神經科學家和 Wavepaths 創辦人 Mendel Kaelen，一同在黑暗的洞穴中待了整整四天，他用簡單的錄音設備，在黎明時分捕捉周圍環境的聲音，讓他的音樂和熱帶雨林的聲音交錯形成二重唱，也成為了《Music For Psychedelic Therapy 》的起點。

Wavepaths 是一間以提供音樂作為迷幻療法的新創公司，常與音樂家（包括 Jon Hopkins、Robert Rich 和 Greg Haines）以及心理治療和神經科學領域的專家合作，創造治療性的音樂體驗，進而改善心理疾病。對 Hopkins 來說，迷幻療法音樂不僅是創作方向的轉變，更有探索新音樂領域的新奇感，既不是古典也不是純粹的環境音樂，像是世界上所有音樂的結合。「彷彿用了一生去創作這張專輯，也像是它突然就這麼的誕生」，Hopkins 如此形容創作《Music For Psychedelic Therapy》的心路歷程。

首先釋出的單曲〈Sit Around The Fire〉，從開頭轟轟的基底環境雜音，到結尾只剩火堆燃燒的聲響，閉上眼真的可以想像自己和 Hopkins 一群人，在黑暗的洞穴中圍著營火，手牽著手享受純然的平靜 ，歌詞借鑑美國心靈導師 Ram Dass 的一段演講錄音，冥想式的低語讓人不自覺的放下一切，能夠用音樂達到身心靈的紓壓療效，絕對會成為現代人的生活必需品。
